Police Arrest Five Over Assault on School Vice Principal in Akure

In a swift operation led by the Ondo State Police Command, five suspects have been arrested in connection with the brutal assault on the Vice Principal of Complete Child Development Centre, Akure. Among those apprehended is Mrs. Dorcas Asije, alleged to be the lead aggressor in the incident that has sparked public outrage.

According to a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, and dated June 2, 2025, the arrests were carried out under the direct order of the Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi. A tactical team, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), was deployed to effect the arrests without delay.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation. The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

“The Command wishes to reassure the public of its unwavering commitment to justice and the protection of all lawful citizens. We urge members of the public to remain calm, law-abiding, and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station,” the statement read.

The incident has drawn widespread condemnation from parents, education stakeholders, and civic groups, who are calling for swift justice and increased protection for educators across the state.
