NECO Exam: Drama in the Hall, as Candidate Finds Snake Inside Locker in Ondo

By Exponent News, 16th July 2025

It was a moment of palpable tension for the external candidates writing the NECO examination at Adeyeri Iyere Comprehensive High School, Owo, today when a candidate suddenly saw a black, tiny snake resting inside her locker in the examination hall.

The student had earlier told the supervisor while distributing the question papers, in a calm voice, that there was a snake inside her locker, but the supervisor initially ignored her claim, thinking she was joking.

However, when a male candidate opened the locker, lo and behold, he found a live black snake inside. Suddenly, the reptile jumped onto the floor and was about to escape, but fortunately for the students—and unfortunately for the snake—they were able to kill it.

Some students, particularly the female ones, ran out of the hall, with many pushing themselves to find a way of escape. Others tried to see what was causing the panic, while some bravely faced the snake alongside the teachers who were invigiilating, in an effort to kill it.

In the end, they were able to kill the snake without harming or injuring anyone. The incident occurred while the supervisor was distributing the examination question papers to the candidates in the morning.

Although the students wondered how the snake managed to enter the locker—despite it being closed and having no visible hole in the furniture—it seemed the snake had somehow found its way inside, possibly with the intent to harm its prey.

Thankfully, the situation was brought under control through the efforts of the students and teachers. However, the hall still needs to be roofed, and the window shutters and Doors needs to be fixed to prevent further reptiles from crawling inside in the future.
