
GOVERNOR AIYEDATIWA CELEBRATES DEJI OF AKURE’S 10 YEARS OF PEACEFUL, IMPACTFUL REIGN

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has lauded the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, for his decade-long reign of peace, unity, and progress in the Akure Kingdom, describing it as a transformational period for the state capital.
The Governor made the remarks on Saturday, July 19, 2025, during a colourful homage parade and award ceremony held at Democracy Park, Akure, as part of activities commemorating the 10th coronation anniversary of the Deji.
Addressing dignitaries, traditional rulers, and the people of Akure, Governor Aiyedatiwa noted that Oba Aladelusi’s reign has significantly contributed to the cultural, social, and economic advancement of the capital city and Ondo State at large.
“Your Imperial Majesty, your reign has brought unprecedented stability and development to Akure. Your commitment to peace, unity, and the preservation of our heritage is commendable,” Aiyedatiwa stated.
He acknowledged the Deji’s steady support for successive state governments and his key role as the immediate past Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas. “Akure, as the seat of government, has witnessed major progress under your guidance. Your partnership with the government has been instrumental to this growth,” he added.
Describing the monarch as a “Friend of Government and Friend of Akure,” Governor Aiyedatiwa reiterated his administration’s dedication to infrastructure and economic development projects within Akure, while calling on indigenes to support the vision for a modern and prosperous capital.
Earlier in his welcome address, Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Mr. Olufemi Meshe, said the celebration aimed to reflect on the monarch’s impactful leadership and to showcase the cultural heritage of the Akure people.
As part of the festivities, several distinguished sons and daughters of Akure were honoured for their contributions to community development. Awardees included:
