In a Press Statement made available to Newsmen in Akure on Monday, the Ondo State NOA Director, Mr James Adekunle, described the hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E as viruses that attack the liver. When attacked by Hepatitis B and C and left untreated it often leads to liver cancer.

The NOA Director enjoined the public to get tested for Hepatitis at the nearest hospital, health centres and get vaccinated for protection with safe and effective Hepatitis B vaccines. He cautioned the people to constantly practice safe health habits by avoiding sharing sharp objects, practice safe sex, ensure blood transfusion are well screened and seek treatment at govt approved health facilities if diagnosed with hepatitis.

Mr Adekunle urged Nigerians to join the collective movement to eradicate hepatitis in Nigeria and stop the Stigma as well as discrimination by showing support and compassion to people living with hepatitis in Nigeria.
