Cult Kingpin Nabbed in Ondo School Raid — Police Foil Secret Meeting in Akungba

A major breakthrough in the fight against campus cultism was recorded this week as the Ondo State Police Command arrested a suspected cult leader during a covert meeting held inside a secondary school compound in Akungba-Akoko.
Acting on a tip-off from a vigilant resident, operatives stormed the premises of A.U.D Secondary School around 1:00 p.m. on October 15, 2025, where a group of young men were reportedly conducting a secret cult gathering. Upon arrival, the suspects fled the scene, but one — identified as Abdul Boluwatife — was apprehended after a hot pursuit.
The suspect later confessed to being the leader of a notorious cult group operating within Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA). He had reportedly been on the Police Command’s watchlist for an extended period and is believed to have led multiple cult-related activities that have unsettled the academic environment in the area.
Items recovered during the operation include a locally fabricated pistol, five cutlasses, a battle axe, cult regalia (including berets), a shisha box, alcoholic beverages, a red knife, and a black glove.
Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips, expressed deep appreciation to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for his ongoing strategic guidance and support in combating cultism and violent crimes in the state. He reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to cleanse tertiary institutions of criminal elements and ensure a safe academic environment.
Investigations by the Anti-Cultism Squad are ongoing as authorities intensify efforts to track down fleeing members of the syndicate.
