CP Lawal Deepens Ties With Akoko Communities in Push for Safer Ondo

By Admin | October 22nd October,2025

In a strategic move to enhance security and deepen community trust, the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, has held a high-level engagement with key stakeholders from the Akoko region. The meeting, which took place in Ikare Akoko, brought together leaders from across Ikare and Iwaro-Oka Area Commands.

The gathering is part of ongoing efforts to actualize the proactive policing vision of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, which emphasizes intelligence-led and community-driven security operations.

Traditional rulers, Fulani and Igbo community leaders, representatives of transport unions, farmers, local vigilantes, and members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) were among the diverse attendees. The session served as a platform to reinforce collaboration, share local intelligence, and address peculiar security challenges in the border areas connecting Ekiti and Kogi States.

During the meeting, CP Lawal reiterated the command’s commitment to fostering a peaceful environment through inclusive and responsive policing. He praised the contributions of officers within the two area commands and assured stakeholders of continued support from the top hierarchy of the Nigeria Police.

Community representatives, in turn, expressed appreciation for the CP’s open-door policy and inclusive leadership. They pledged to supply timely intelligence and continue working with security agencies to prevent crime. Farmers in particular promised to alert the police of any suspicious activity in remote areas.

Leaders of the Hausa-Fulani and Igbo communities also commended the police for fairness in handling inter-communal concerns and stressed the importance of vigilance in safeguarding local businesses and properties.

Demonstrating a people-oriented leadership approach, CP Lawal shared his personal contact with participants, urging direct communication for credible information. He thanked the Inspector General of Police and the Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for their unwavering support in securing the state.

Police authorities say the Akoko meeting is one of many ongoing engagements across the state aimed at promoting synergy between law enforcement and local communities.
