
OAUSTECH Students Clinch National FST Quiz Title

Two students from Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) have emerged winners of the Professor Hafiz Abubakar Inter-University Quiz Competition for Food Science and Technology (FST) students.
Omotola Ibukun (500-level) and Benjamin Boluwatife (400-level) beat their peers from universities across Nigeria to take the top spot.
The competition was part of the 49th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST), held alongside the Nigerian Association of Food Science and Technology Students (NAFSTS) at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, from October 19 to 24, 2025.
Organizers said the quiz tested the creativity and scientific knowledge of FST students, reflecting the conference theme: “Empowering The Future: Gen Z Driven Sustainable Food Innovation and Futuristic Approach for Economic, Social, and National Advancement.”
OAUSTECH Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, congratulated the students, praising their ingenuity and hard work. He also commended the department and school leadership for their mentorship, calling the achievement “heartwarming” and a proof of the university’s commitment to producing innovative graduates.
Prof. Orimoloye Ipoola Faleyimu, Dean of the School of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, described the win as a reflection of the department’s dedication to academic excellence. Dr. Clement Ogidi, FST Department Coordinator, praised the students’ exceptional performance and application of classroom knowledge in the competition.
The event was attended by OAUSTECH’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research), Prof. Foluso Adetuyi, the competition’s founder Prof. Hafiz Abubakar, and NIFST President, Dr. Bola Osinowo, among others.
In another development, the Institution also approved promotion as well as appointment of sixteen (16) Professorial cadres to the development of the institution. Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) has approved the appointments of six new professors and ten readers, further strengthening its academic staff.
The newly appointed professors are:

– *Prof. Hassan E. Ayedun*: Professor of Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology
– *Prof. Emmanuel Kehinde Asaniyan*: Professor of Animal Production and Health
– *Prof. Johnson Adedayo Ogunjobi*: Professor of Forestry and Wildlife Management
– *Prof. Ehiyamen M. Osezua*: Professor of Public Administration
– *Prof. Nkereuwem Sunday Etukudoh*: Professor of Medical Laboratory Science
Those promoted to the position of readers include:

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, congratulating the new professors on their well-deserved appointment to the apex academic attainment, noted that it did not come on a platter of gold but through dint of hard work, years of toil, sacrifice, focus, and commitment.
He stressed that it is hopeful that the new academic attainment will motivate the new professors and readers to add further value to their fields, the university, its students, the nation, and humanity.
This development is expected to enhance the university’s academic reputation and further consolidate its position as a leading institution of science and technology in Nigeria.
