In a bold stride toward sustainable development and community safety, the member representing Owo/Ose Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, .Timehin Adelegbe, has launched the distribution of 3,000 solar-powered streetlights to communities across the constituency.

The official flag-off ceremony, held in Owo, drew a distinguished gathering of traditional rulers, political leaders, religious figures, and residents who hailed the initiative as a beacon of progress and a symbol of responsive leadership.

Speaking through his representative,  Gbenga Ale, explained that Adelegbe Timehin said the project underscores his commitment to improving lives through innovation and inclusive development.

“These solar lights represent more than just infrastructure,” he said. “They symbolize hope, security, and progress. They illuminate our streets, enhance safety, and foster economic growth.”

The ceremony featured the presence of eminent traditional rulers, including His Royal Majesty , the Olowo of owo , Oba Ogumoye represented by the Olupeme of Upeme kindom ,Oba  Adewunmi Ogunmolasuyi- and among others Royal dignitaries were in their attendance, along with that of political stakeholders from the All Progressives Congress (APC), lent weight to the event’s significance.

Gbebga Ale emphasized that the streetlights are designed to serve as public goods, benefiting entire communities by illuminating dark streets, deterring crime, and stimulating night-time commercial activity.

“When there is light everywhere, it reduces crime to the barest minimum,” he explained. “Electricity supply has been unreliable, but this project will light up our communities and make them safer.”

The initiative comes as part of a broader series of constituency projects credited to Hon. Adelegbe, who has been lauded for his focus on tangible, people-oriented development in education, healthcare, security, and infrastructure.

In his message, Hon. Adelegbe reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring that Owo and Ose remain visible in the federal government’s development agenda.

“Our constituency will not be forgotten,” he declared. “I am in Abuja to deliver results.”

Community leaders and residents alike expressed gratitude for the project, describing it as a transformative step toward improving quality of life across rural and urban areas.

As dusk fell over Owo, the symbolism of the moment was clear: 3,000 solar streetlights, powered by the sun, now stand as glowing testaments to a future defined by illumination, innovation, and hope.

The Olupeme of Upeme and other beneficiaries in the two local government thanked  their representative on behalf of their communities for bringing the dividends of the Democracy to them.
