Aiyedatiwa Takes Development Message to Grassroots on Akoko Thank-You Tour

15 Th December, 2025

Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Monday commenced a statewide tour of local government areas with a pledge to deepen grassroots development and sustain support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The tour, tagged a “thank-you” visit, began in the four Akoko local government areas of Akoko North-West, Akoko North-East, Akoko South-East and Akoko South-West, where the governor expressed appreciation to residents for their support and mobilised backing for the re-election of President Tinubu in 2027.

Speaking at Oke-Agbe, headquarters of Akoko North-West Local Government Area, Governor Aiyedatiwa said the visit was not a campaign but an opportunity to personally thank the people for their loyalty and prayers.

“I am here to greet you and thank you. Some people say politicians do not return after elections. I have no election now. I only came to appreciate you all for your support for my administration,” the governor said.

At the council secretariat, the governor commissioned five utility vehicles for traditional rulers and a bus for the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), describing the gesture as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots governance.

He reminded party leaders and residents that he had promised during the electioneering period to visit communities regularly to inspect projects and ensure that campaign promises were fulfilled.

Governor Aiyedatiwa also conveyed the decision of the APC at the national and state levels to present President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its candidate for the 2027 presidential election, urging continued support for the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Commending Ondo State residents for standing with the APC, the governor noted that the party won all local government areas in the state and now enjoys full control of the State House of Assembly. He attributed the party’s growing influence and infrastructural development nationwide to the reforms of President Tinubu, adding that these reforms had attracted governors from other political parties into the APC.

The governor further disclosed that his opponent in the 2024 governorship election, Hon. Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had met with him and agreed to join the APC at a later date.

Calling for unity, Governor Aiyedatiwa urged party members to avoid internal crises and work together ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing that dialogue and cooperation were key to sustaining the party’s success.

“There will be no fight in the party. We will resolve all issues through dialogue, and everyone will be satisfied,” he assured.

At Akoko North-East Local Government Area, the governor again thanked residents for their support and prayers, highlighting the dualisation of the Ikare–Akungba road as a major development project benefiting the Akoko axis.

The Deputy Governor, Dr Olayide Adelami, who spoke in Oka Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area, appreciated residents and party members for the warm reception accorded the governor and his entourage.

The thank-you tour also took the governor to Isua in Akoko South-East Local Government Area, where he paid homage to residents and acknowledged the support of party leaders across the zone.

As part of the tour, palliatives were distributed to each of the local government areas visited in appreciation of party members and supporters.

Members of the governor’s entourage included the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti; the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr Kayode Ajulo, SAN; and several commissioners, special advisers and party leaders.
