FG Rolls Out Fully Funded Technical Education for Youths

Date: 24th January, 2026

In a renewed push to strengthen vocational education and equip young Nigerians with employable skills, the Federal Government has announced free admission into all Federal Technical Colleges across the country.
The application portal, managed by the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), will open on Monday, January 26, 2026, according to the Federal Ministry of Education.
The initiative, approved by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa, is aimed at expanding access to technical and industry-relevant training as part of the government’s broader economic growth and youth empowerment agenda.
In a statement issued by the Ministry’s spokesperson, Boriowo Folasade, the Federal Government disclosed that it will bear the full cost of education for all candidates who secure admission into the colleges.
The programme is open to applicants between the ages of 13 and 20, who are required to register through the official NABTEB portal at https://student.nabteb.gov.ng. A valid National Identification Number (NIN) is mandatory for all applicants.
Registration for the 2026 intake will close on Sunday, May 24, 2026, while the National Common Entrance Examination is scheduled to hold nationwide on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
The Ministry advised parents and guardians to rely solely on official government platforms for accurate information, warning against misinformation from unauthorized sources.
It reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality technical education, describing it as critical to youth empowerment and sustainable national development.
