
Award: Alade Becomes ICAN Western Zone Ambassador

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has conferred the title of Western Zone Ambassador on Chief Bunmi. Alade- FCA .The award was bestowed on him in recognition of his immense contributions and unwavering support for the development of the ICAN Western Zone, as well as his outstanding professional service over the years.
The programme was held in Lagos State on Friday, 6 February 2026, during the 20th ICAN Western Zonal Accountants’ Conference, which was well attended by members of the professional body.
The recipient, Chief Bunmi, a retired Permanent Secretary in the civil service in Ondo State, used the opportunity to appreciate and thank the organisers for the honour conferred on him. In his message, Chief Bunmi said:
“This is to express my humble and sincere appreciation for the honour bestowed on me by the entire members of our great Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) in recognition of my modest contribution to the Western Zone, on the occasion of the Western Zonal Conference 2026 held at the Highpoint Event Centre, CBD–Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, on Friday, 6 February 2026. This is indeed unique and unprecedented.
Special thanks to the 61st President of ICAN, Mallam Haruna Yahaya, mni, Ph.D, FCA, and the Council members, with special recognition of our benefactor, Sir Oluwatobi Abiola, mni, Ph.D, FCA, and my brother from another mother, Otunba Biodun Adedeji, FCA, for this honour.
I also wish to appreciate the leadership of the Western Zone—Alh. Ganiyu Semiu, FCA (Chairman), Alh. Kolawole Bisiriyu, Ph.D, FCA (Conference Chairman)—other principal officers of the zone, all the District Chairmen, and the entire members of ICAN in the Western Zone for their confidence in me. You are indeed wonderful people and great to associate with.
I must also use this medium to appreciate the entire members of my primary constituency, Akure and District Society, under the leadership of the District Chairman, Mr. E. A. Oke, FCA, and the Chairman of the Committee of Past Chairmen, Sir J. S. O. Adeniyi, FCA. I thank you for the opportunity given to me to showcase my modest abilities at the zonal level over the decades, which eventually qualified me for this unique award. I am indeed very grateful and promise to keep the flag flying, God being my helper.
To all friends and family members who joined me in this celebration, I say thank you. I pray that joy and celebrations of God’s goodness in our lives shall continue to multiply in our homes, in Jesus’ name.”
