Hon. Ade Adeogun, former member of the House of Representatives for Akoko South East/South West Federal Constituency, has formally signaled his intention to contest the Ondo North Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections, pledging to build on what he describes as a track record of service, integrity and community development.
Adeogun, popularly known as the “Beautiful Brand,” represented his constituency in the 9th National Assembly from 2019 to 2023. Supporters across Ondo North say his performance in office, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, youth employment and legislative engagement, has strengthened calls for his elevation to the Senate.
Background and Education
Born into the Olumomi family of Oba-Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State, Adeogun began his education at Z.I. Primary School, Oba-Akoko, and Borgu Primary School, New Bussa. He later attended Oludaye Grammar School, Oba-Akoko.
He was enlisted into the Nigeria Security Organization (NSO) in 1983 and subsequently earned a Second Class Upper Division degree in Archaeology from the University of Ibadan in 1989. Adeogun also received training in Maritime Security Administration at the New York Merchant Marine Academy, Long Island, and obtained a Master’s degree from Manchester Business School in the United Kingdom, alongside several professional certifications.
Career in Security and Public Service
After returning to the State Security Service (now Department of State Services) as a Cadet Officer, Adeogun rose through the ranks, serving in various capacities including Personal Assistant to the Rivers State Director of SSS and Chief Security Officer to former Rivers State Governor, Dr. Peter Odili. He also held roles in Ondo State and at the State Security Academy in Lagos before voluntarily resigning in 2007.
Between 2007 and 2015, he served the Rivers State Government as Honorary Special Adviser to then-Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and later as Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency. During his tenure, the agency reportedly expanded its workforce and improved operational efficiency. He was also involved in the establishment of the Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence (C4i) Centre aimed at enhancing inter-agency security coordination in the state.
Business and Philanthropy
Adeogun is the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Magnum & Hunter Limited, a Lagos-based firm that evolved from a consulting company into waste management, infrastructure development and real estate investment. He also sits on the boards of other companies, contributing to business planning and leadership development initiatives.
In the non-profit sector, he founded the Brentonwoods & Trinity Leadership Foundation and later the Ade Adeogun Foundation in Oba-Akoko in 2017. Through these platforms, he has supported classroom renovations, youth agricultural initiatives, community infrastructure projects, borehole repairs, electricity interventions and social welfare programmes across Akoko communities.
Legislative Record
During his time in the House of Representatives, Adeogun facilitated projects including roads, bridges, classrooms, town halls, police quarters, boreholes, erosion control works and electricity transformers in his constituency.
He also focused on youth employment, facilitating placements for over 120 young people in federal agencies such as the Nigerian Ports Authority, Nigerian Railway Corporation, Department of State Services, Nigerian Customs Service, Nigerian Immigration Service, Federal Road Safety Corps and others.
In partnership with Upland College of Education, Ipesi-Akoko, he supported tuition-free scholarships for hundreds of students pursuing the National Certificate in Education (NCE). Additional training opportunities were facilitated through agencies such as NIMASA, ITF and SMEDAN, benefiting artisans, small business owners and transport operators.
At the National Assembly, Adeogun served as Chairman of the Ad hoc Committee on Recovered Assets and as Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on National Security and Intelligence. He was also a member of several committees, including Petroleum Downstream, Ecological Fund, Police Affairs, Poverty Alleviation and Constitution Review. He chaired the Conference Committee for the bill establishing the National Centre for the Coordination and Control of the Proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons.
2027 Ambition
Political observers note that the race for Ondo North Senatorial District is gathering momentum, with multiple aspirants expressing interest. However, Adeogun’s supporters point to his legislative experience, administrative background and grassroots engagement as factors that may shape the contest.
Speaking on his political philosophy, Adeogun said: “I am not in politics to make money. I am here to serve with pride and integrity, and to ensure that everything I do follows laid down rules and principles.”
As the 2027 elections approach, stakeholders across Ondo North are expected to intensify consultations and mobilization efforts, setting the stage for what promises to be a closely watched senatorial contest.
