The Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, Akogun Tunji Adeleye, has charged newly recruited corps members to maintain professionalism in their conduct and dealings with civilians while carrying out operations across the state.
Adeleye gave the charge during the passing-out parade of Batch 05, branded Basic Regular Course (BR05), held at the Gani Fawehinmi Arcade Grounds in Akure. He emphasized the importance of community trust in effective security operations, stating, “Where the community trusts you, security thrives. Where fear replaces trust, insecurity grows.”
Describing the occasion as a strategic milestone in the collective march towards a safer and more orderly society, Adeleye said the event marked the formal graduation and induction of the new recruits into the noble task of homeland protection, community safety, and constitutional order.
He noted that the ceremony was both celebratory and solemn—celebratory because the recruits had successfully completed rigorous training, and solemn because they had been entrusted with the lives, property, dignity, and peace of the people of Ondo State.
The Commander expressed profound gratitude to the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Dr. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, for his unwavering political will and commitment to strengthening the state’s security architecture. He described the recruitment, training, and passing-out of Batch BR05 as a testament to the administration’s belief that security remains the foundation for development, investment, and social harmony under its EASE agenda.
Adeleye also appreciated the Ondo State House of Assembly for providing legislative support, the State Judiciary, the State Executive Council, and sister security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), for their growing synergy in modern security operations within the state.
Addressing the recruits, he said their journey to the parade ground was neither accidental nor casual, noting that they had undergone weeks of structured physical conditioning, grassroots intelligence gathering and management, tactical drills, weapons handling, intelligence awareness management, civil-military relations, legal frameworks of internal security, crowd control, community engagement, ethics, and the principles of Omoluabi.
He stressed that the training was designed to produce disciplined operatives and professional responders, not militants or aggressors. According to him, the Amotekun Corps was established as a legal, community-rooted, intelligence-driven security outfit to complement conventional forces and address local security gaps, not as a rival to other agencies.
Adeleye reminded the recruits that they were agents of the law and not above it, warning that any act of indiscipline, corruption, abuse of power, or collaboration with criminal elements would attract decisive sanctions.
“As members of BR05, you are stepping into service at a time when security challenges are increasingly complex and socially sensitive, ranging from banditry and kidnapping to communal tensions and farmer-herder clashes,” he said, adding that their duty required alertness, restraint, integrity, and loyalty to the state and its people.
He assured the recruits that the agency would continue to prioritize continuous training, personnel welfare, inter-agency collaboration, intelligence-led operations, professionalism, and accountability, with a vision to build an institution that would endure beyond administrations and personalities.
In conclusion, Adeleye encouraged the new operatives to justify the confidence reposed in them by serving with honor, protecting with courage, and upholding the law with humility.
He also thanked the governor for providing operational vehicles and equipment, enhancing salary packages, offering life insurance and NSITF cover, and improving welfare and training facilities for the corps.
The Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa in his speech congratulated the newly recruited corps into the society. He reaffirmed that security remains the fulcrum upon which sustainable development rests.

He cautioned that no society can prosper in an atmosphere of fear, no economy can thrive where lives and property are unsafe and no government can legitimately claim success if it fails in its primary responsibility of protecting its people.

The Governor disclosed this during the passing-out parade of Batch 05 (BR05) of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, held at the historic parade ground of the Ondo State House of Assembly Arcade Complex in Akure.

Describing the ceremony as symbolic, strategic and historic, the Governor said the event marked a decisive moment in consolidating the state’s security architecture.

The Governor, reminiscing about the event, remarked that the scene evoked memories of his late predecessor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, the erstwhile Amotekun 001.

The newly recruited operatives, he noted, are well-trained, disciplined and ideologically re-oriented men and women who have willingly offered themselves in service to the peace, stability and collective survival of Ondo State..The occasional was well attended by  the members politicians and other top government functionaries figures and other prominent Royal Fathers in the state and among others eminent personalities.
