Uso, Ondo State – February 25, 2026 

Six worshippers have been abducted by gunmen during a midnight attack on a Celestial Church in Uso, Ondo State.
According to a statement from the Ondo State Police Command under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, the incident occurred at approximately 12:50 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2026. The attackers reportedly stormed the church located along the Uso/Owo Expressway and whisked the victims away to an unknown destination.
Police operatives, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups, swiftly mobilized to the scene following a distress report and immediately launched coordinated rescue operations.
Authorities confirmed that one of the kidnapped worshippers has been successfully rescued through sustained joint security efforts. In addition, one suspect linked to the abduction has been arrested and is currently providing useful information to assist ongoing investigations.
Security agencies have intensified operations in the area to secure the safe release of the remaining victims and ensure all perpetrators are brought to justice.
Residents have been urged to remain calm but vigilant, and to support security agencies with credible and actionable information that could aid rescue efforts.
Further updates are expected as investigations continue.
