Security Agencies Storm Akure in Massive Patrol to Deter Crime, Boost Public Confidence

17th March, 2026, Akure

Residents of Akure and adjoining communities witnessed a heavy security presence on Monday as the Ondo State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, carried out a coordinated show-of-force patrol across key parts of the state.
The operation, led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, involved personnel from the police, the 32 Brigade Artillery of the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Ondo State Security Network, Amotekun Corps. The joint patrol moved through major highways, commercial hubs, and identified flashpoints in a strategic effort to curb criminal activities and reassure residents.
The large-scale deployment featured convoys of security vehicles, motorcycles, and armed operatives, signaling a united front against crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, and cultism.
Police authorities said the exercise forms part of a broader security strategy aimed at strengthening law enforcement visibility, enhancing inter-agency cooperation, and maintaining law and order across the state.
Speaking on the initiative, the Commissioner of Police emphasized that the patrol underscores the commitment of security agencies to protecting lives and property, adding that intelligence-led policing and collaboration remain central to ongoing operations.
He also reassured residents of sustained efforts to keep the state safe, urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.
The Command further acknowledged the support of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, noting that his guidance has contributed significantly to recent operational successes.
Authorities called on residents to cooperate with security personnel during patrols, stressing that public support is critical to sustaining peace and security.
The joint exercise highlights growing synergy among security agencies in Ondo State, aimed at ensuring a coordinated response to emerging threats and reinforcing public confidence in the state’s security framework.
