Police Nab Two Suspects, Recover Toy Gun in Akure Stop-and-Search Operation
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered a toy gun during a routine stop-and-search operation in Akure.
The suspects, identified as Simeon George and Moses Daniel, were apprehended in the early hours of March 15, 2026, along the Oba-Ile axis. The operation was carried out by police operatives in collaboration with members of a local vigilante group.
During the search, officers recovered a toy gun and a headlamp concealed in the suspects’ bag. Preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspects could not provide a satisfactory account of themselves or the items found in their possession, raising suspicion about their intentions.
The suspects have since been taken into custody, while the recovered items have been secured as exhibits. Police authorities said the case has been transferred to the appropriate investigative unit for further probe to determine the circumstances surrounding the items and any possible links to criminal activities. They are expected to be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
The Command reiterated its commitment to proactive policing through sustained patrols, intelligence gathering, and stop-and-search operations aimed at preventing crime and ensuring public safety.
It also urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid in the fight against crime.
