The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has arrested two suspected rapists in separate incidents in Akure, the state capital.
The arrests were confirmed in a statement issued on April 15, 2026, by the Command’s Head of Media and Public Relations, SC Daniel Aidamenbor, on behalf of the State Commandant, Oluyemi Ibiloye.
According to the statement, one of the suspects, Emeka Chidi Innocent, a 22-year-old farmer, allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl at the SIB, Igbatoro area of Akure on March 3, 2026. The suspect reportedly went into hiding after the incident but was later tracked and arrested in Idanre.
In a separate case, Ayodele John, a 38-year-old tiler, was alleged to have defiled a 15-year-old girl in her parents’ residence along Oda Road, Akure. The incident occurred on April 13, 2026, and the suspect was arrested the following day.
The NSCDC disclosed that both suspects have made confessional statements and will be charged to court.
The Command also used the opportunity to caution parents and guardians against negligence, stressing the importance of proper background checks on artisans and individuals given access to children. It noted that in both cases, the suspects were known to the victims and their families.
Members of the public are encouraged to report suspicious activities to the Command through its official channels.
