22nd April, 2026.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council, signaling a renewed push to strengthen economic management and governance delivery.
In a memo issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and signed by George Akume, two ministers—Wale Edun and Ahmed Musa Dangiwa—have been directed to step down, with immediate replacements announced.
Edun, who served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, will hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, now elevated to take charge of the ministry. Oyedele previously held the position of Minister of State in the same ministry.
For the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named as minister-designate, while Dangiwa has been instructed to transfer responsibilities to the Minister of State pending confirmation.
The directive mandates that all handover processes be completed on or before the close of business on April 23, 2026.
Akume explained that the reshuffle is intended to “strengthen cohesion and synergy in governance” and ensure more impactful economic outcomes for Nigerians under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He added that the President exercised his constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in effecting the changes, and assured that efforts to reinvigorate the cabinet would remain ongoing.
The Presidency also expressed appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service, wishing them success in their future pursuits.
