ADA Distances Itself from Ardo’s Remarks on NDC Registration

Alure, May 4, 2026

The All Democratic Alliance (ADA) has clarified that recent comments made by its National Secretary, Dr. Umar Ardo, questioning the registration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), do not reflect the official position of the association.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Leye Igbabo, ADA said Dr. Ardo expressed his views in a personal capacity and not on behalf of the group.
The association acknowledged the NDC as a duly registered political party by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), noting that it remains one of the platforms available to Nigerians seeking alternatives in the political landscape.
ADA emphasized its commitment to strengthening opposition politics and cautioned against actions or statements that could create division among opposition groups.
The association also noted that it is still in the process of securing full registration and would continue to pursue this through lawful means, including engagement with INEC and the courts.
According to the statement, ADA has no intention of undermining other political platforms and expressed openness to future collaboration among opposition parties.
It added that fostering a multi-party system remains essential for Nigeria’s democratic development.
