AAUA Students Honour Ondo NUJ Chairman, Adegbite With Leadership Award

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Prince Leke Adegbite, has been honoured with a Leadership Award by the Social Sciences Students’ Association of Adekunle Ajasin University for his contributions to journalism and media development in Ondo State.
Adegbite received the award during a public lecture and leadership award programme organised by the students’ association at the Nelson Mandela Hall of the institution on Thursday.
The recognition, according to the organisers, was in appreciation of his leadership role in the media industry and his service to journalists in the state.
The event, themed “Nigerian Security Challenge and Its Politics of Blame Game,” attracted academics, traditional rulers and other stakeholders who discussed the growing insecurity across the country and its impact on national development.
Represented at the event by journalist Adeboye Ado, the NUJ chairman urged students to remain focused on their academic pursuits and embrace hard work and discipline as tools for success.
He thanked the students for the honour and commended the university for producing graduates making meaningful contributions in different sectors globally.
Speaking at the programme, the Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Adebisi Daramola, described the lecture topic as timely in view of the country’s security situation.
He praised the students’ association for organising the lecture, noting that such engagements contribute to national discourse and development.
Also speaking, the Owa-Ale of Ikare-Akoko, Oba Adeleke Adegbite-Adedoyin, commended the leadership of the students’ association and encouraged students to embrace entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
In her remarks, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Adesuyi Adebukola, stressed the need for stakeholders to work together in addressing insecurity in the country, warning that sustainable development could not thrive in an atmosphere of fear and instability.
Delivering the keynote lecture, the Vice-Chancellor of Achievers University, Prof. Oyesoji Aremu, said insecurity continued to affect the economy and education sector, calling for improved regional collaboration and stronger support for security agencies.
