Ondo State Police Command has dismissed rumours of a traditional curfew in Akure
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Command assured residents that there was no security threat warranting panic or apprehension in the Ondo State capital.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, warned individuals spreading fake news to desist, noting that such actions could undermine public peace and security.
According to the statement, anyone found circulating false information intended to create panic or disturb public order would be investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Residents were advised to remain calm, continue their lawful activities and rely only on verified and credible sources for information.
The Command also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and protecting lives and property across the state.
