PFN Declares ‘Consuming Fire’ Prayer Offensive Against Insecurity, National Crisis

By Olusegun HOSEA, Akure

24th May, 2026.
The leadership of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has declared a nationwide spiritual intervention against insecurity, instability and what it described as forces opposing God’s purpose for the country, urging Nigerians to unite in prayer for national restoration.
Speaking during a prayer gathering on Sunday, a PFN leader said the country was in urgent need of divine intervention, stressing that the theme of the meeting, “Our God is a Consuming Fire,” was inspired by the current challenges confronting the nation.
According to him, the gathering was convened to seek supernatural help for Nigeria and pray for the cleansing of the land from violence, fear, oppression and spiritual darkness.
“We are here to ask the Lord for supernatural intervention. If all of us lift up our voices together, we will find that Jesus is there,” he said.
Quoting biblical references from Hebrews and Psalms, the cleric described God as a consuming fire that destroys evil, cleanses nations and confronts forces responsible for instability and suffering.
He said the prayer mission was aimed at both physical and spiritual battles affecting the country, including terrorism, insecurity and moral decline.
“We have both internal and external problems. We are talking about physical insecurity, but there is also spiritual insecurity. God is cleansing the nation,” he stated.
The PFN leader further declared that the “fire of God” would consume every force working against peace, unity and progress in Nigeria, insisting that the intervention would not cease until restoration is achieved.
He also called on Christians across the country to remain steadfast in prayer for their families, communities and the nation at large.
The gathering formed part of ongoing national prayers organised by PFN amid growing concerns over insecurity and socio-economic hardship in the country.
