Osun Election: No Government Can Succeed Without NURTW — Oluwole
By Olusegun HOSEA
Oluwole Adepoju, the Treasurer of the five-man committee of the Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Olorunda Branch 1, Osun State, has declared that the union has released ninety vehicles (90) from its branch to support the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in conveying its sensitive materials to various local governments across the state.
Speaking in Osogbo, Adepoju admonished passengers to always take vehicles from designated motor parks for the security and safety of their lives. He said the union had organised itself to the extent that all vehicles loading at its garage were thoroughly checked before embarking on their journeys.
He alleged that the Osun State Government had not done anything for the NURTW in the state. While making reference to the past administration of the late Governor Akande and how it responded to the welfare of the union, he said, unlike the present government, they would never forget the kind gestures they enjoyed from that administration.
He alleged that the division being experienced among the union members today was as a result of the present government in the state. He narrated how a former government in the state bought buses for the union to enhance its service delivery, as against the present government.
He advised all union members to elect the government of their choice for the benefit of the union and the state in general, considering the significant contribution of the union to the government.
According to him, any government that neglects the activities of road transport workers will hardly succeed.
