Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate over the abduction of one Abubakar Abdullahim at Molege, near Owo, Ondo State.
The suspects, identified as Adamu Rabiu and Haruna Likita, were arrested during separate intelligence-led operations carried out by the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad.
According to the Command, Rabiu was arrested in Ibadan, Oyo State, following collaboration between the Ondo and Oyo State Police Commands, while Likita was apprehended around Ipele, near Owo, in connection with the same kidnapping incident.
The victim was reportedly kidnapped on August 1, 2026, at Molege, via Owo.
The Police said preliminary investigations had established links between the two suspects and the abduction. It added that both suspects allegedly made statements during interrogation admitting their involvement in the crime.
The Command said the investigation was ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident and identify other individuals connected to the alleged syndicate.
It added that efforts were being intensified to uncover the wider network and operational structure of the group, with the aim of arresting all those involved and dismantling the kidnapping network.
The suspects are expected to be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, commended the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for its diligence, courage and commitment to protecting residents and their property.
Ohagwu assured residents that the Command would sustain intelligence-driven operations against kidnappers and other violent criminals in the state.
He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely and credible information about suspicious persons, movements and activities to the Police and other security agencies.
