Okeigbo Stool Dispute: Court Urges Caution and Compliance with Legal Process

By Exponent News, Akure – July 20, 2025

The ongoing dispute over the traditional stool of the Oluoke of Okeigbo has taken a new turn as the Court of Appeal sitting in Akure issued a stern warning for all parties to exercise caution and maintain the status quo pending the final determination of the case.

At the court session held on Monday, July 14, 2025, the presiding justices emphasized the importance of respecting judicial processes and refraining from actions that could undermine the authority of the court.

The legal dispute has raised broader concerns about the integrity of traditional selection processes and the need for all stakeholders to operate within the bounds of the law. The court’s directive for the preservation of the status quo underscores the seriousness of the matter and the need to avoid any actions that may prejudice the outcome of the case.

As the case proceeds, the community of Okeigbo and other observers are watching closely, with hopes that the matter will be resolved in a manner that promotes peace, justice, and respect for traditional institutions.

Efforts to obtain comments from relevant authorities were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report. However, it remains clear that no official organ of government is expected to support or engage in any act contrary to court orders or legal norms.

The situation continues to unfold, and all involved are urged to await the court’s final ruling while maintaining peace and decorum in the community.
