How 40-Year-Old Personal Driver Abandoned Boss in Church, Stole Her Car to Abuja

A 40-year-old personal driver, identified as Adesola Ogunrotifa, has been arrested in Abuja after allegedly abandoning his employer at a church in Akure and fleeing with her vehicle before he was tracked down by detectives from the Ondo State Police Command.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the incident was reported on July 5, 2026, by Mrs. Remilekun of Oba-Ile, Akure. She told the police that she had employed Ogunrotifa as her personal driver in July 2025.
The police said the suspect drove his employer to the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Isegun, Akure, for a church service on Sunday, July 5, 2026. However, after dropping her off at the church premises, he allegedly drove away with her Hyundai saloon car and headed towards Abuja without her consent.
Following the report, detectives attached to B Division, Akure, launched an investigation. Acting on credible intelligence and deploying strategic investigative techniques, the operatives tracked the suspect to Abuja, where he was arrested. The stolen Hyundai saloon car was also recovered intact.
The police disclosed that the suspect has been charged to court for prosecution.
Commending the detectives for their professionalism, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Felix Ohagwu, praised the swift, intelligence-led operation that led to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the vehicle.
The command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring residents that criminal elements would have no safe haven within or outside Ondo State. It also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
