Tragedy struck in the early hours of 30th July 2025 when a commercial motorcyclist, Nwike Sabat, from Ebonyi State, was brutally shot dead in an apparent robbery attack along Mimiko Street, Yaba, Ondo Town.

The incident occurred around 5:08 a.m., when assailants targeted the victim in a violent bid to snatch his motorcycle. However, in a dramatic twist, the suspect involved in the attack crashed while attempting to flee the scene, leading to his immediate arrest by security operatives.

Recovered from the suspect were the deceased’s motorcycle and live barricade ammunition, indicating a planned armed robbery operation.

The Ondo State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation to unravel possible links to a broader criminal syndicate suspected to be behind a series of armed robberies and assaults targeting Okada riders in the region.

Authorities have assured the public that the suspect will face the full wrath of the law as investigations continue.
