Ondo Police Recover ₦3.5m Worth of Stolen Motorcycles, Bust Notorious Syndicate

Admin 4th September,2025

The Ondo State Police Command has dealt a heavy blow to motorcycle theft in the region, smashing a notorious interstate syndicate and recovering seven stolen motorcycles valued at over ₦3.5 million.

The breakthrough, announced on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, followed a report by a resident of Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, whose motorcycle was stolen from his residence on August 20, 2025. Acting on intelligence, detectives tracked the stolen bike to Akure, where suspects identified as Oluwafemi Benjamin and Seyi were apprehended.

Further investigations led operatives to Owo, where six additional motorcycles—suspected to have been stolen from different parts of Ondo and neighboring states—were recovered from another member of the gang.

Police spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, said the syndicate had been terrorizing residents and dispossessing them of their hard-earned property. He urged victims of motorcycle theft to approach the Command with credible proof of ownership for possible recovery.

Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, described the operation as a clear reflection of the Inspector-General of Police’s vision for intelligence-driven policing, assuring residents that the Command would not relent in its clampdown on criminals.

He appealed to the public for continued cooperation by volunteering accurate and timely information to strengthen the fight against crime in Ondo State.
