NOA Champions Value Reorientation at Achievers University, Urges Youths to Uphold Integrity

Date 21st October, 2025

As part of its ongoing efforts to instill patriotism and moral consciousness among Nigerian youths, the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ondo State Directorate, has charged students of Achievers University, Owo, to embrace core national values and become ambassadors of integrity and responsible citizenship.

In a statement released by the  Media & Communication Department
NOA Ondo State Directorate, Akure, the call was made during a lecture titled “Value Reorientation: A Pathway to Responsible Citizenship” delivered by the Ondo State Director of NOA, Mr. James Adekunle, at the university’s Students Orientation Week held on Thursday, October 16, 2025.

Mr. Adekunle emphasized that national rebirth begins with individual transformation, stressing that honesty, discipline, and civic responsibility are crucial to rebuilding Nigeria’s moral fabric. According to him, “Value reorientation is about reshaping our attitudes and behaviour to reflect integrity and respect for societal norms. The future of Nigeria depends on how well our youths embrace these principles.”

Addressing the growing challenges of corruption, cultism, examination malpractice, and cybercrime, the NOA Director identified moral decay and loss of national identity as root causes. He urged students to reject unethical practices and uphold integrity both in academics and daily life.

Highlighting virtues essential for nation-building, Mr. Adekunle listed integrity, patriotism, hard work, teamwork, and responsibility as key pillars for achieving unity and progress. He called on students to model these values as future leaders capable of driving positive change.

He also noted that the Agency’s enlightenment initiatives—such as “Do the Right Thing” and “Change Begins With Me”—are targeted at promoting ethical conduct and strengthening civic engagement across Nigeria.

In recognition of Achievers University’s participation in NOA’s national quiz competition and campus debate, the Agency presented an Award of Participation to the institution—a gesture warmly received by the university management and students.

The interactive session, attended by students, academic staff, and university representatives, ended with a renewed commitment to fostering moral integrity, patriotism, and social harmony among Nigerian youths.
