CP Lawal Orders Redeployment of DPO Enu-Owa Over Unprofessional Conduct

Akure, Ondo State | October 21, 2025

The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Enu-Owa Division over alleged unprofessional conduct in the handling of a recent case involving a social media influencer, Adefolarin Ayomiposi, popularly known as Mandykiss.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, the disciplinary action followed public outrage over a viral video showing Mandykiss recording and taking photographs of suspects while in police custody at the Enu-Owa Division.

Preliminary investigations by the Command revealed that no police personnel accompanied the influencer during the arrest of the suspects — Mrs. Akinwole Sabitu and her daughter, Miss Akinwole Oyindamola — who were accused of alleged cyberbullying. Reports indicate that Mandykiss was aided by her online followers, who helped track down the suspects.

After the arrest, the influencer was said to have filmed herself conveying the suspects to the station, where she also took their photographs before posting them online — actions the police described as contrary to standard procedure and a violation of the suspects’ rights under the principle of presumption of innocence.

CP Lawal expressed disapproval of the DPO’s failure to exercise proper supervision and professional judgment during the incident, which he said could undermine public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force. Consequently, he directed the officer’s immediate redeployment and reiterated that the Command would not tolerate any behavior that compromises professionalism or ethics.

The Commissioner further reminded all officers to uphold the rights of suspects and complainants alike, emphasizing that photographing or recording suspects in custody breaches police ethics and procedural directives.

“The conduct of the said officer does not represent the discipline, integrity, and core values of the Nigeria Police Force,” the statement quoted CP Lawal as saying.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining discipline and accountability across the Command while appreciating the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for his leadership and guidance that continue to promote professionalism within the Force.
