Aiyedatiwa Commissions Amotekun Control Centre, Reaffirms Security as Top Priority

Date: 2nd December, 2025

Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Monday commissioned the newly completed Command and Control Centre and Training Auditorium of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, declaring that protecting lives and property remains a central pillar of his administration’s “OUR EASE” policy thrust.

Speaking at the Corps headquarters in Alagbaka, Akure, the Governor said security governance is “a continuous journey” requiring collective vigilance and sustained government backing. The event also featured the maiden Annual General Meeting of the Amotekun Corps Cooperative Society.

Aiyedatiwa described the new facilities as vital to enhancing operational efficiency, intelligence coordination, and the tactical readiness of personnel. He commended the leadership of Commander Akogun Adetunji Adeleye for the dedication invested in delivering the project, assuring that the state government would continue to extend the required support.

The Governor praised the strong inter-agency collaboration in Ondo State, which he said has contributed to the state’s reputation as one of the most peaceful in the country. He emphasised that modern security demands not only physical preparedness but also discipline, knowledge, and structured training environments—needs the new auditorium is designed to meet.

He added that the timely release of funds for the facility underscores his administration’s commitment to the welfare and professional development of Amotekun personnel. Aiyedatiwa also paid glowing tribute to the late former governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, whom he described as a visionary whose courage, alongside his South-West counterparts, birthed the Amotekun Corps.

Reaffirming his resolve to strengthen the agency, the Governor announced approval for the recruitment of 500 additional personnel and pledged continued support in logistics, training, welfare, and other essential resources.

Earlier, Commander Adeleye said the Corps remains committed to safeguarding communities across the state. He noted that Amotekun’s evolution since 2020 demonstrates how locally anchored security backed by political will can effectively confront emerging threats. He credited the Corps’ successes to its founding focus on operational strength, rapid response, and community intelligence, praising Governor Aiyedatiwa for sustaining and expanding institutional support.

Adeleye highlighted ongoing training for management staff, zonal commanders, and officers across the 18 local government areas, noting that intelligence-driven operations now form the backbone of Amotekun’s work.

The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, lauded the Governor for his consistent backing of security agencies, describing it as instrumental to the peace enjoyed in the state. NSCDC State Commandant, Oluyemi Ibiloye, also praised the administration’s support and welcomed the recruitment of additional Amotekun personnel. The State Director of the DSS, Samaila Sagiru, similarly commended the Governor’s contributions.

The event was attended by dignitaries including the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji; Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti; Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa; Hon. Kolawole Ologede; traditional rulers; religious leaders; heads of security agencies; and political appointees.
