Police Bust Cross-State Motorcycle Robbery Syndicate, Recover Stolen Bike in Ile-Oluji

13th December, 2025

A coordinated police operation and swift community action have led to the arrest of a notorious cross-state motorcycle robbery syndicate and the recovery of a stolen motorcycle in Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, according to the State Police Command.

The incident followed an armed robbery attack in which a 20-year-old suspect, Adaji Aaron, alongside an accomplice armed with a cutlass, assaulted and dispossessed one Adegbese Ademola of his Boxer motorcycle. During the attack, the victim sustained machete injuries. Prompt intervention by vigilant community members, however, resulted in the pursuit and arrest of the suspects, underscoring the critical role of public cooperation in crime prevention.

Further investigations by the Ondo State Police Command, driven by actionable intelligence, led to the arrest of two additional suspects identified as Ojima David, aged 21, and Chukwuma Linus, aged 30. Police confirmed that the duo are members of a notorious motorcycle-stealing syndicate known to operate across state boundaries, marking a significant breakthrough in dismantling the criminal network.

Police authorities disclosed that all the suspects have confessed to their respective roles in the crime and will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.

The stolen motorcycle has since been recovered, while the injured victim is receiving medical attention at a hospital. Police noted that the recovery and subsequent arrests reflect sustained operational pressure on criminal elements and effective collaboration between the Police and host communities.

Commending the development, the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc+, mnips, praised community members for their timely intervention and applauded officers involved for their professionalism. He also acknowledged the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, for his strategic guidance and continued support in strengthening policing capacity nationwide.

The Commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities, stressing that sustained police-community partnership remains vital to safeguarding lives and property. He warned criminal elements operating within or across state lines to desist, reaffirming the Command’s resolve to maintain a safe and secure Ondo State.
