FEDPOLEL Sensitises Over 800 Fresh ND Students on SIWES Requirements

No fewer than 802 newly admitted National Diploma (ND I) students of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji (FEDPOLEL), Ondo State, have participated in a comprehensive orientation programme aimed at preparing them for the Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).
The one-day orientation programme, organised by the Polytechnic’s Directorate of SIWES, was held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the institution’s 1,500-capacity Multipurpose Auditorium. Participants were drawn from 15 academic departments offering both Full-Time and Part-Time National Diploma programmes.
Addressing the students, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Ademola Iyanda Ebeloku, congratulated them on reaching a significant milestone in their academic journey and emphasised the importance of SIWES in complementing classroom learning with practical industry experience.
According to him, the scheme provides students with opportunities to acquire hands-on skills, establish professional networks, and gain deeper insights into workplace operations and industry standards. He urged the students to demonstrate professionalism, discipline, integrity, and exemplary conduct throughout their industrial attachment, noting that they would be representing the institution in various organisations.
Earlier, the Director of SIWES, Dr. Olufemi Dadepo Adesina, expressed gratitude to the Polytechnic Management for its sustained support towards the successful implementation of SIWES activities.
He described the orientation programme as a vital preparatory exercise designed to acquaint students with the objectives, expectations, ethics, and responsibilities associated with industrial training. Dr. Adesina noted that the programme was intended to equip participants with practical competencies, workplace ethics, and professional discipline necessary for future career advancement.
He further advised the students to remain diligent, punctual, respectful of constituted authority, and committed to learning throughout their attachment period.
Also speaking, the Acting Manager of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Akure Area Office, Mrs. Grace Ajagbe, commended the institution’s management for fostering an environment that promotes academic and professional excellence. She encouraged the students to strictly adhere to SIWES guidelines to ensure a productive and successful industrial training experience.
Among dignitaries present at the event were the Deputy Rector, Dr. Samson Adehuga Omogbehin; the Registrar, Mr. Gabriel Adeyemi Awe; the Bursar, Mr. Sehinde Ebenezer Olabode; and the Polytechnic Librarian, Dr. Fasa Rachael Aladeniyi. ITF officials, Deans, Directors, and Heads of Departments and Units of the Polytechnic were also in attendance.
