The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has urged senior officers of the Commission to embrace integrity, accountability and operational efficiency as critical pillars for strengthening public confidence in the nation’s anti-corruption agency.
Olukoyede gave the charge on Saturday at the closing ceremony of the Strategic Leadership Course One organised for senior officers at the EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.

Speaking on the theme, “Institutional Branding and Behavioural Impact,” the EFCC boss stressed that the image of the Commission rests largely on the conduct and professionalism of its personnel, noting that every officer serves as an ambassador of the institution both within and outside the workplace.
He emphasised the need for fairness, transparency and accountability in the discharge of duties, saying such values are essential for sustaining the Commission’s credibility and respect in the public domain.
According to him, officers must remain ethical and honest in carrying out enforcement responsibilities, irrespective of external pressures or the status of individuals involved in criminal investigations.
“Pursue financial crimes fearlessly, impartially, and without compromise, regardless of the stature of the offender,” Olukoyede stated.

The EFCC chairman explained that institutional rebranding extends beyond new logos or public relations campaigns, insisting that genuine transformation must be driven by positive behavioural and attitudinal changes among staff members.
He noted that the effectiveness of the anti-graft agency in combating economic and financial crimes depends significantly on the level of public trust earned through transparency, professionalism and accountability.
Olukoyede further urged the officers to develop competencies in human capital management, conflict resolution and team building, stressing that effective leadership requires the ability to inspire confidence and make sacrifices for both subordinates and the institution.
“A leader must be able to create an atmosphere that makes people believe in what you do and believe in you. You must be able to encourage people, make sacrifices and even take bullets for your team and for the institution,” he said.
He explained that the Strategic Leadership Course was designed to prepare officers for greater responsibilities as the Commission continues to expand its operations and leadership needs.
The EFCC chairman also encouraged participants to cultivate a culture of continuous learning and self-development, describing capacity building as indispensable for career growth and institutional excellence.
He challenged officers to embrace innovation and emerging technologies, warning that reliance on outdated methods in an era driven by artificial intelligence and advanced digital tools could hamper both personal and organisational progress.
Olukoyede added that the Commission must consistently upgrade its technological capabilities and benchmark its operations against global best practices, urging officers to study the methods and strategies of leading international law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States and the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA).
