FEDPOLEL HONOURS FORMER REGISTRAR AWE FOR FIVE YEARS OF SERVICE
The Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji (FEDPOLEL), Ondo State, has honoured its immediate past Registrar, Mr. Gabriel Adeyemi Awe, for his contributions to the institution during his five-year tenure.
Awe was celebrated at a grand send-forth ceremony organised by the institution’s management, staff and students on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at its 1,500-capacity Multipurpose Auditorium.
The ceremony attracted principal officers of the Polytechnic, deans, directors, deputy registrars, members of the celebrant’s family, representatives of Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, and other well-wishers.
Awe, who served as the third substantive Registrar of the institution from September 10, 2021, to September 9, 2026, attended the event with his wife, Dr. Omolara Awe, and their two children.
In his welcome address, the Rector, Dr. Ademola Iyanda Ebeloku, described the former Registrar as a stickler for rules and a custodian of government policies, commending him for his contributions to the growth and administration of the Polytechnic.
Ebeloku particularly praised Awe for introducing the e-Appraisal System for staff members and for his five years of selfless, meritorious and impactful service to the institution.
The Rector assured the former Registrar that his wealth of experience would remain valuable to the Polytechnic, despite the completion of his tenure.
“As you bow out of this office, you are not bowing out of relevance. The Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji will continue to tap from your wealth of experience. You have written your name in gold in the history of this Institution, and history will be kind to you,” he said.
Other speakers at the ceremony also praised Awe’s commitment to excellence, integrity, due process, diligence and punctuality, describing these qualities as evident in the discharge of his official responsibilities.
The event highlighted some of his achievements during his tenure, including his service under two Rectors, the successful conduct of two recruitment exercises between 2023 and 2026, and his role in facilitating the inauguration of the Ile-Oluji Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) in 2025.
In recognition of his contributions, Ebeloku presented Awe with a commemorative plaque and a generating set as tokens of appreciation for his dedicated service to the institution.
Responding, the former Registrar expressed gratitude to the management and the entire Polytechnic community for the honour, saying he did not take the recognition for granted.
He attributed the achievements recorded during his tenure to God’s grace, the support of his family and the cooperation he received from the management, which provided an enabling environment for him to perform his duties effectively.
Awe also urged staff members to embrace continuous learning and professional development, describing both as essential to excellence and effective service delivery.
Dignitaries at the ceremony included the Rector, Dr. Ademola Iyanda Ebeloku; Deputy Rector, Dr. Samson Adehugha Omogbehin; Registrar, Mr. Joseph Adebayo Fadeji; Bursar, Mr. Sehinde Ebenezer Olabode; and Polytechnic Librarian, Dr. Fasa Rachael Aladeniyi.
Other guests from AFUED included the Director of Establishment and Human Resources, Mrs. Adeyinka Tugbiyele; Director of Council Affairs and General Administration, Mrs. Veronica Akpe; Director of Internal Audit, Dr. Oladosu Abimbola; Director of Health Services, Dr. Eddison Johnson; Director of Final Accounts (Bursary), Mr. Taye Omotayo; Acting Director of Academic Planning, Mrs. Taiwo Olaitan; and Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Dr. Joseph Obamoyegun.
Earlier in the day, the Polytechnic organised a novelty football match at its Sports Complex in honour of the former Registrar. The match featured the institution’s teaching and non-teaching staff teams, with the non-teaching staff emerging victorious by three goals to nil.
The match further underscored the institution’s emphasis on teamwork, camaraderie and sportsmanship.
