The National President of the RUGIPO Alumni, Engr. Adeola Victor Adesina, gave the commendation when he led other national officers of the association on a courtesy visit to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, in Akure.

Engr. Adesina added that the support from the Governor has brought life back to the institution, especially in competing with other tertiary institutions of learning in enhancing technology and technical education in the country.

He, however, pleaded with Governor Aiyedatiwa to clear the remaining backlog of salary arrears of workers of the polytechnic before end of the year so that his next term would begin with a clean slate for the workers of the institution.

Adesina also commended the Rector of the Polytechnic, Mr. Olorunwa Adegun, for his efforts in developing the institution and pointed the attention of the Governor to the need to appoint a substantive Chairman for the Governing Council of the school.

While calling on the state government to synergize with the alumni of the polytechnic, Engr. Adesina explained that the over two years of his leadership of the association have been fulfilling with the achievement of various developmental projects in the school.

Responding, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, thanked the team for the visit, as well as the goodwill messages and support he has received from the polytechnic community since his appointment.

He also thanked the association for acknowledging and appreciating the efforts of Governor Aiyedatiwa towards the development of the school and the welfare of its workforce.

Prince Adeniyan said the recent approval by the Governor for the payment of N35,000 wage award to staff of tertiary institutions for the next six months is another testament to his commitment to improving welfare of workers in the State.
