The Governor made the announcement on Thursday during the institution’s 5th Convocation Ceremony.

Emphasizing his administration’s commitment to the continuous growth and success of the university, Governor Ayedatiwa applauded the institution’s leadership and stakeholders for their collective efforts in advancing medical education in Ondo State.

Reflecting on the historical significance of the convocation ceremony, Governor Ayedatiwa celebrated the milestone of producing physicians within the state for the first time since its inception.

The Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University, Prof Ayodele Arowojolu, highlighted the institution’s progress and emphasized the need for continued financial support for infrastructural development.

He said: “it is important to note that through the support of the Ondo State Government and the prudent management of the Internally Generated Revenue of the University, the Institution has developed tremendously within the last one year. Apart from the university programmes that had received full accreditation from the National Universities Commission and other regulatory bodies, the university infrastructural development has also been improved upon.”

Also, Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Adesegun Olayiwola Fatusi, provided statistics on the graduating class, showcasing UNIMED’s commitment to academic excellence.

Earlier, Governor Ayedatiwa had commissioned several projects on the UNIMED campus, including the Multidisciplinary Laboratory Complex, Learning Resource Centre: Block 2, and the Kamomi Aketi Accelerated Water Scheme. These projects, aimed at enhancing learning environments and student welfare, underscored the government’s dedication to fostering educational excellence and innovation.
