Swift Amotekun Raid, Rescues Abducted Boy from Organ Harvesters in Akure

By Exponent News Akure 20th May ,2025

In a dramatic and chilling twist to the growing threat of child trafficking in Nigeria, the Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as the Amotekun Corps, has rescued a young boy, Eriponmile, from the grip of an organ-harvesting syndicate operating across state lines.

Eriponmile was abducted in the Ijoka-Davog area of Akure and traced to a medical facility in the eastern part of the country—where he had already been declared “medically fit to be harvested.”

According to Amotekun Commander Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, operatives sprang into action within minutes of receiving the distress call. “He was rescued within 48 hours,” Adeleye confirmed, crediting the swift mobilization of plainclothes officers and inter-state surveillance.

Evidence recovered during the operation pointed to a deeply entrenched child trafficking and organ trade network. Several suspects were arrested, including a woman named Amaka—described as a key figure in the operation—alongside Ifeanyi, Adaeze, Etose, Omolara, and others still being tracked.

Amotekun’s investigation revealed that the syndicate had already subjected Eriponmile to preliminary medical evaluations in preparation for illegal organ extraction. “Our intelligence showed that this wasn’t an isolated case,” Adeleye said. “We’re looking at a chain of operations with multiple victims.”

Confessions from the arrested suspects have exposed the depth of the criminal enterprise. One suspect, a baker in Sijuade, said a pregnant woman once gave up her baby, which was later trafficked to Anambra State. Another suspect, Amaka Kenneth, 35, admitted to selling babies for ₦500,000 each to a motherless babies’ home in Onitsha. She named two accomplices, Tosin and Adewale Olokungboye.

“This syndicate has left a trail of pain and loss across multiple states,” Adeleye said. “We are determined to dismantle it completely.”

The rescued child is now safe and receiving medical and psychological care. Authorities are continuing their investigations and expect more arrests in the coming days.
