Stakeholders Unite in Ondo to Curb Vandalism of National Assets

Akure, Sept. 25,th 2025

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has pledged renewed efforts in raising public consciousness against the vandalism of critical national infrastructure, emphasizing collaborative security and sustained citizen engagement.

This commitment was made known during a stakeholders’ coordination engagement organized by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, in Akure on Wednesday, September 24.

Speaking at the event, the Ondo State Director of NOA, Mr. James Adekunle, represented by Assistant Director Mr. Babatunde Akinde, said the agency is intensifying its security awareness campaigns as part of its national mandate to support government policies and safeguard public assets.

Adekunle emphasized that vandalism and sabotage of infrastructure such as oil pipelines, power lines, telecom installations, and rail facilities pose a serious threat to national development. He stressed the need for collective action among citizens, security agencies, and community leaders to reverse the trend.

“Security awareness is one of the key pillars in our ongoing nationwide sensitization drive,” he said. “We must mobilize our people towards a cultural shift that values and protects public infrastructure.”

The NOA chief called for enhanced community policing, intelligence sharing, and media advocacy, urging stakeholders to use their platforms to promote attitudinal change and active citizen participation in national security.

The engagement session brought together security operatives, civil society organizations, traditional institutions, and government agencies, all aligned in their resolve to curb the rising incidents of vandalism across the state.
