Police Arrest 32-Year-Old Man Over Alleged Defilement of Minor in Ondo Community

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, Osita James, over the alleged sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl in Ile-Oluji, Ondo State.
Police sources confirmed that the suspect was apprehended following a report made on Wednesday, February 5, 2026, by a male resident identified as Uchena. The complainant reported that the minor was allegedly defiled at about 4:00 p.m. in the Asio area of Ile-Oluji.
Upon receiving the report, operatives of the command swiftly intervened, rescued the victim, and took her to a medical facility for examination. The suspect was immediately arrested and taken into custody, where he reportedly made useful statements to investigators.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim alleged the suspect had sexually abused her on several occasions before the most recent incident. Police authorities disclosed that the suspect would be charged to court after the completion of investigations.
The Ondo State Police Command said the arrest underscores its commitment to tackling sexual and gender-based violence, in line with the reform agenda of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, which prioritises gender-sensitive policing and accountability.
The command also commended members of the public for their prompt reporting and urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide credible information to law enforcement agencies to enhance community safety and protect vulnerable persons.
