Security Agencies Storm Agamo After Monarch’s Brutal Killing

20th February, 2026

Tension gripped Agamo Town on Wednesday as security chiefs in Ondo State launched a coordinated operation following the killing of a traditional ruler, Oba Kehinde Jacob Faledon.
The Ondo State Police Command confirmed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, led a high-powered delegation of security heads to the community on February 19, 2026, a day after the monarch was reportedly attacked and killed.
The delegation included the Commander of the 32 Brigade Artillery of the Nigerian Army, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS). The team conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the crime scene before proceeding to the palace to commiserate with the bereaved family and members of the community.
According to preliminary investigations, about six masked armed men stormed the monarch’s residence at about 7:10 p.m. on February 18, forcibly abducted him from his compound and violently attacked him, resulting in his death.
CP Lawal assured residents that the police, working in synergy with other security agencies, would leave no stone unturned in identifying, apprehending and prosecuting those responsible for the crime.
The Commissioner has ordered the immediate deployment of additional security personnel and tactical teams to Agamo and surrounding areas, with a clear mandate to track down the perpetrators and prevent any breakdown of law and order.
He also called on residents to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing credible and actionable information that could aid ongoing investigations.
The Command reiterated its commitment to crime prevention through sustained patrols, intelligence-led operations and strategic deployment of personnel to vulnerable areas across the state.
Police authorities assured the people of Ondo State that efforts are being intensified to restore confidence, maintain peace and ensure justice is served.
