Ondo Moves Against Kidnapping Syndicates, Orders Statewide Security Crackdown

The Ondo State Government has ordered an immediate and comprehensive crackdown on kidnapping syndicates operating in parts of the state, following investigations that revealed the involvement of some local collaborators in the recent spate of abductions.
In a decisive move to restore public confidence and reinforce security, the government directed all security agencies to intensify surveillance and launch coordinated operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks behind the incidents.
Authorities expressed concern that certain unscrupulous elements are attempting to portray the state as unsafe through orchestrated criminal activities. The government stressed that such acts will not be tolerated and will be met with firm, lawful action.
Security operatives across the state have been mandated to apprehend suspects, conduct thorough investigations, and ensure that anyone found culpable is prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The government also highlighted ongoing investments in strengthening the state’s security architecture. These include the provision of utility vehicles and logistics support to security agencies, the construction of a state-of-the-art Crime Control Centre for the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps), and the recent recruitment of 500 trained Amotekun personnel to enhance intelligence gathering and rapid response operations.
Traditional rulers have been urged to heighten vigilance within their domains and promptly report suspicious activities to security authorities. The government emphasized that community-based intelligence remains vital in combating crime.
Residents were equally encouraged to speak up against suspicious movements or gatherings, reiterating the call: “If you see something, say something.”
The Ondo State Government reaffirmed that the protection of lives and property remains its top priority, vowing that no individual or group will be allowed to undermine the peace, security, and stability of the state.
The directive was contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Ajanaku.
