IPOIDU: Leader Calls for Proper Planning Ahead of Ilaje Day

The leadership of the Indigenous People of Ilaje Development Union (IPOIDU) has called on all concerned members of the union to prepare for the reception of their members in the Diaspora ahead of the forthcoming Ilaje Day celebration. The celebration is meant to showcase the rich cultural heritage and natural resources of the Ilaje nation to the world, with the aim of attracting investors for the growth and development of the region.
According to a virtual meeting held by the members of the union today, the leadership said a tentative date had been chosen for the activities, but all arrangements must be completed before the date can be publicly announced.
Speaking further, Reverend Nicodemus Odolo, who presided over the meeting, urged members to work diligently toward the day and appealed for cooperation among themselves to ensure the programme’s success. He highlighted some of the activities that would form part of the programme, including the display of Ilaje culture, a football tournament, religious activities, horse racing, and other competitions that would add color to the event.
In another development, the meeting emphasized some of the important benefits the programme would bring to the public, such as boosting the local economy and increasing revenue through the patronage of business activities by visitors on that day. He also urged some committees to begin preparing sponsorship letters to be sent to potential sponsors ahead of the Diaspora members’ arrival.
Finally, the meeting included plans to hold a world press briefing before the event to inform the international community about the programme’s significance for potential investors. They also used the forum to appeal to the leadership of the Ilaje Local Government Council to liaise with relevant authorities to sign the approval letter for the upcoming event and to work with the Chairman of the Council to expedite actions so that all associated activities could progress on schedule.
