Ondo Police Raid Forest Hideouts in Fresh Crackdown on Crime

The Ondo State Police Command has intensified its offensive against violent crime with a major security operation in the Ilu-Abo Forest and surrounding communities, leading to the dismantling of several suspected criminal hideouts.
The operation was personally led by the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, alongside tactical commanders and operatives, as part of ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism and other criminal activities across the state.
According to the Command, the exercise involved an extensive sweep of identified flashpoints, forest corridors and locations believed to serve as safe havens for criminal elements operating within the area. During the operation, security personnel discovered and destroyed makeshift camps and structures suspected to have been used for criminal activities.
Police operatives also conducted thorough searches of the surrounding forest to prevent the re-establishment of the camps and disrupt criminal networks. The operation was aimed at restricting the movement of criminals and strengthening public confidence in the state’s security framework.
Addressing officers during the exercise, CP Ohagwu reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led and proactive policing. He stressed that forests and remote locations would not be allowed to serve as sanctuaries for kidnappers and other criminal elements.
The Commissioner assured residents that the Police Command would sustain aggressive operations across identified criminal hotspots to ensure the safety of lives and property.
He noted that the operation aligns with the strategic directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at enhancing internal security and combating violent crime nationwide. CP Ohagwu also commended the professionalism and dedication of participating officers, urging them to maintain the momentum until criminal threats are effectively neutralised.
The Ondo State Police Command called on members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to aid ongoing efforts to keep the state safe and secure.
