Police Arrest Security Guard Over Alleged Theft of Employer’s Generators in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a security guard, Emmanuel Ojo, for allegedly stealing two generators worth N950,000 belonging to his employer in Alagbaka Extension, Akure, and fleeing to Ogun State.
The suspect was arrested in Ogun State after detectives from the Ondo State Police Command tracked him down following a report of the alleged theft.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, on September 26, 2026, the incident was reported at ‘A’ Division, Akure, by the suspect’s employer, identified as Ogunyinka.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Ojo, who was employed as a security guard by the complainant, allegedly took advantage of his position to steal one Fireman generator and one Honda generator, valued at N950,000 in total.
The suspect allegedly absconded from the area after the theft and fled to Ogun State in an attempt to evade arrest.
Following the report, police detectives commenced an investigation and gathered intelligence that led to the suspect’s location in Ogun State.
The police subsequently tracked and arrested him in the state.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the alleged offence and provided investigators with information concerning the circumstances surrounding the theft.
The police said the suspect was subsequently subjected to further investigation and charged to court in accordance with the law.
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, commended the officers and detectives involved in the investigation for their prompt response, intelligence gathering and determination to ensure that the suspect did not evade justice.
Ohagwu reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring that individuals suspected of criminal activities are identified, arrested and brought before the law, regardless of where they flee.
The command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities or criminal incidents to the nearest police station or through established police emergency communication channels.
