Under the steady leadership of Mrs. Adenike Idiat lawa, , Director Principal, Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) Akure has witnessed an era of peace, progress, and purpose — a legacy her colleagues and staff are proudly celebrating today with an award of academic excellence which was received on her behalf by a Director of Education Mrs Olorunyomi.

Born on November 22, 1962, in Offa, Kwara State, Mrs. Lawa has dedicated over three decades to shaping Nigeria’s educational landscape. From her early days at St. Michael Primary School in Kaduna State to earning her Master’s degree in Educational Management from the University of Ilorin in 2001, her journey reflects a lifelong commitment to learning and service.

Mrs. Adenike Lawa began her civil service career with the Federal Ministry of Education in 1989. Since then, she has served in various Federal Unity Colleges across the country, rising through the ranks to become the Director of Education and Principal at FGGC Akure.

During her tenure, the college has seen transformative achievements, including uninterrupted industrial peace, prompt remuneration of staff, payment of hospital bills for ailing employees, and scholarship support for children of deceased workers. Her open-door policy and inclusive leadership style have fostered a harmonious working environment described by staff as “query-free” — a rarity in many institutions.

She has also led the school to participate actively in national educational development through seminars and workshops, including the 2021 Grace Principals Workshop and other leadership programs organized by the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration.

Mrs. Lawa’s administration is widely regarded as a model of excellence in school management, with many hailing her as a principal who not only manages but truly cares. As her chapter at FGGC Akure continues, her impact is sure to resonate for generations to come.
