Land Matter: Ondo Govt Asks Isinigbo, Igoba Communities to Remain Calm

By Olusegun HOSEA26th June, 2026

The Ondo State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has asked the people of the Isinigbo and Igoba communities to remain calm and maintain peace in their communities pending the time the government will call them on July 15, 2026, for intervention over the land dispute going on between the two communities.

The information was disclosed by the traditional rulers of the two communities, who said that the government had asked them to remain peaceful until the said date when it promised to settle the matter amicably between the two monarchs.

Recall that the Isinigbo and Igoba communities have been at loggerheads over a land matter, with one allegedly accusing the other community of encroaching on its land. The matter, according to the latest information obtained from sources, was taken to the Ondo State High Court of Justice, Akure Judicial Division, which delivered its judgment on the 22nd day of July, 2021, by Hon. Justice W.A. Akintoye, and the judgment was appealed by the appellant.

The two communities have resolved among themselves not to cause chaos in their communities but to wait for government intervention. According to them, whatever decision is reached by the government over the land case will determine whether the matter will be resolved or not. However, since the government installed them as royal fathers to their forefathers’ thrones, they have no reason not to comply with the directive of the government that gave them their staffs of office.
