Amotekun Parades 35 Suspects, Recovers Stolen Funds, Rescues Kidnap Victims in Ondo

30th March, 2026

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, has paraded 35 suspects arrested for various criminal offences across the state, including kidnapping, human trafficking, rape, and armed robbery.
The Corps Commander , Adetunji Adeleye  disclosed that the suspects comprise 19 linked to breaches of law and order, 11 for kidnapping-related offences, three for human trafficking, and two for rape. He noted that the arrests were made during coordinated operations across several local government areas within the state.
Among the cases highlighted was a human trafficking syndicate that allegedly defrauded a victim of 1.4 million  under the guise of facilitating travel documents to Canada. The victim was reportedly held hostage for about two weeks before escaping and reporting to authorities. Operatives subsequently tracked down the suspects, recovered the full amount alongside the victim’s passport, and reunited her with her family.
The Corps also recorded successes in tackling kidnapping, with several suspects arrested in connection with cases in Akure North and other parts of the state. In a related development, operatives responded to a distress call in Owo, where a stolen Lexus Jeep was recovered within hours after security teams mounted roadblocks around the area.
On motorcycle-related crimes, six suspects were arrested for stealing and dismantling motorcycles for resale as spare parts. Some of the suspects were said to have used weapons to attack and dispossess riders of their motorcycles. The stolen motorcycles were recovered and reassembled.
The agency further arrested individuals involved in housebreaking, theft of vehicle parts, and burglary. One suspect was noted for targeting homes during church services, while others specialised in stealing motor parts and looting residences when owners were away.
Amotekun also confirmed the rescue of two kidnapped victims—a father and his son—following a swift response to a distress call.
The Corps Commander attributed the recent drop in criminal activities, particularly housebreaking, to the enforcement of the state government’s ban on the use of commercial motorcycles at night. He revealed that over 120 motorcycles have been impounded across the 18 local government areas for violating the directive, while about 14,000 riders have so far registered under the ongoing regulation programme.
He assured residents that enforcement and surveillance operations would continue across the state to sustain the gains recorded in recent weeks.
