NSCDC Receives Four Suspects Over Alleged Illegal Petroleum Dealings in Ondo
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has taken custody of four suspects allegedly involved in the illegal dealing and transportation of refined petroleum products in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects — Kehinde Akinjinrin, Abiwo Ola, James Etajuwa and Shadrach Omoshola — were arrested by the Nigerian Navy during an anti-crude oil theft operation conducted at the Igbokoda seaside between September 3 and 4, 2026.
According to the NSCDC, the suspects were allegedly found with suspected illegally refined petroleum products, as well as products believed to be Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), which they were transporting without the required authorisation.
The suspects and the recovered exhibits were formally handed over to the NSCDC Ondo State Command at the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base, Igbokoda, on September 10, 2026.
Receiving the suspects and exhibits on behalf of the Command, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, SC Daniel Aidamenbor, commended the Nigerian Navy for the operation and the continued collaboration between the two security agencies.
Aidamenbor said sustained inter-agency cooperation was crucial to safeguarding the nation’s economic assets and tackling the activities of vandals and other economic saboteurs.
He said the Command would conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and prosecute the suspects in accordance with the law.
“As the agency statutorily empowered to investigate and prosecute matters of this nature, the Command will ensure that the case is thoroughly investigated and that justice is served in accordance with the law. This will also serve as a deterrent to other criminal elements who may seek to engage in similar activities.”
The NSCDC Ondo State Command further reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with sister security agencies in the fight against crude oil theft, illegal refining, pipeline vandalism and other forms of economic sabotage across the state.
